Shinga Can’t Shut Up

Kill efficiency.

Don’t misunderstand, the literal definition of the word “efficiency” isn’t what I have a problem with. It’s this modern 2020s capitalist version of “efficiency”.

Everyone is desperate to do everything IMMEDIATELY and as QUICKLY as possible, because dammit, time is money.

So instead of taking the time to think things through with their own brains now, they outsource to ChatGPT no matter how much bullshit and false info it spews. Because it SAVES TIME. It’s EFFICIENT.

Instead of exploring the human experience of making art, something humans inherently do, which doesn’t need to be perfect at the start or even look “good” because it’s about CREATION, they go “no, takes too long” and use a shitty image generator and proudly say “look! I’m an artist now too! and I didn’t WASTE all that silly TIME actually learning anything lol”

Instead of really digging into a news story, seeking real information and facts, trying to piece together things past all the PR speak and whatnot, people just… read a headline, only. They yell at it, cheer it, whatever, but they only read the one sentence, and if the article is longer than a paragraph they complain. “This is too long, can’t you just summarize?” even though the topic is NUANCED and REQUIRES time to truly understand and explain.

And tell me, what does this all this fresh new TIME give you? What are you actually DOING with that time?

You’re working.

Lots of Americans have multiple jobs to make ends meet, they are desperate for “Efficient” ways to cling to their own humanity. So instead of using their time to learn art, they use a generator and PRETEND. Instead of engaging with world news and figure out what’s real and what’s fake, they react to headlines so they can PRETEND to be informed and included in the conversations. Instead of THINKING about the world, about all the things they’re actively AVOIDING thinking about because things are heavy as fuck in the world right now, they give up entirely and let a chatbot think FOR them. So they can pretend. So they can save time. So they can be… efficient.

And it needs to die. This is not sustainable. This is not humane. This is slowly killing you and your ability to connect to yourself and others and I don’t know how to explain it in a way that snaps people out of their capitalist fugue state and truly ENGAGE with humanity. Even if it’s hard, even if it takes a long time to do something, it is worth it. Please.
